How Do I Load My Tune To My Device? NOTE: Before connecting your device to your PC, let’s make sure you have the Device Update Software installed. Click here to download and install if you do not have the program installed.

1. Using the provided USB cable, connect your device to your computer. (Allow roughly 30 seconds for the drivers to install)
2. Save your custom tunes from your emailed link to your desktop.
3. Using the shortcut icon on your desktop, open the Device Updater software.
4. Now select “Load Custom Tune File” from the Basic Operations menu then click on the “Locate Custom Tunes” button.
5. Select the desired tune from the list of tunes.
6. Your tune will appear under “Available Tunes” on the left window within the Updater. You will need to transfer it to the device by using the arrow button in the middle of the SCT Updater.
7. Press “Program” when ready to transfer the custom tune to the device.

How Does The Tuning Process Work? Below is a step-by-step overview of our custom tuning process.

1. Plug your device into the vehicles OBDII port. The device will automatically power on.
   1. If the device does not automatically power on, you likely have a blown fuse that needs replacing. It will be the same fuse as the cigarette lighter and 12v accessory port. 
2. Select “Program Vehicle” on your device and follow the onscreen device prompts for key cycles on and off.
   1. The first time tuning your vehicle will take some time. The device will save your stock file in addition to tuning your application.
3. Under available custom tunes, select your RV Daily Tow Tune to load onto your motorhome.
4. After you select your tune, you will have user adjustable options. Continue with this step or arrow to the right and select approve to skip. After this step, custom programming will begin.
5. Once tuning has completed the device will show download complete and will prompt you to turn the key off. At this point, you may disconnect your device.

How Long Does Installation Take? The installation will take approximately 5-10 minutes.

Do I Need A Shop To Install? The installation process of the tuner is simple and can be performed by anyone. No tools are required for the installation.

What Can My Device Do? For starters your device is extremely versatile. In addition to being your flash programmer it can perform many other functions. It can easily load store up to 10 of your 5 Star Tuning custom tunes. Your device can also be used to monitor your vehicle engine parameters. (Parameters can range from engine RPM, Speed, Coolant Temperatures and many more). The tuner can also be used to datalog your vehicle to further dial in current or future modifications. Your flash programmer will also store a copy of your factory tune and your vehicle can be returned to stock at anytime.

Which Tunes Are Available For My Application? Our entire lineup of tunes for your vehicle can be found by visiting our calibration request form. All of our current tunes for each application can be found under our custom tune dropdown menu.

How Does The Process Work? Below is a step-by-step overview of our custom tuning process.

Once you’ve selected the tuner that best fits your needs, place your order online or via phone for the tuner that best fits your needs. If ordering online, please input your vehicle information and select your tunes via our drop-down menus. If your pcm code off of your vehicle is the most current calibration from Ford we will tune your vehicle based on your submitted information. If the coding is not current based on Ford’s current TSB’s, a blank device will be sent to you.

1. 1. Upon receiving your blank tuner, connect the tuner to your vehicle’s OBD-II port with the radio, heat, A/C and other general accessories that require power turned off and pull your ECU strategy code and/or ECU SWPN.

   2. With the device plugged your device into the vehicles OBD-II port select “Vehicle Info.”

      1. With the X4 devices, you will need to press the center button.

• Write down your vehicle strategy code or ECU SWPN part number.

  • • For 2015+, vehicle strategy code is listed under “ECU Strategy & ECU SWPN.”

• Select exit & then unplug your device.

1. 3. Email the code(s) to sales@5startuning.com.

   4. Please allow 24-48 hours to receive your custom tunes. Once your custom tunes have been created, you’ll be emailed a link to our Google Drive account where you’ll be able to download the tunes as SCT .cef files.    5. Once the tunes are loaded onto the device, you may proceed to tune your vehicle.

   6. Plug the device back into your OBD-II port and select program vehicle. Once selected choose the custom tune you wish to program your vehicle with and follow the onscreen prompts.

Note: SCT’s software is only compatible with Microsoft’s Windows operating systems. For OS other than Windows, we recommend the Bully Dog BDX or HP Tuners. The Bully Dog BDX will support custom tuning via wifi whereas the HP Tuners nGauge is supported via OSX.
