Apple and Sony made a deal to bring Sony’s DSLR-quality advanced image sensors to the iPhone camera.
According to a report on Nikkei, Sony Semiconductor Solution’s latest image sensor doubles the saturation level of each pixel. This will help to capture more light in difficult lighting situations like night photography.
Sony achieved the breakthrough by leveraging a new semiconductor architecture. The new architecture puts transistors and photodiodes in separate substrate layers. This will allow for more photodiodes on its dedicated layer.
